Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries in Latin America. With its access to the Pacific and Atlantic oceans patched with white and black beaches, its dozens of protected national parks as well as its diverse fauna and flora, it is the perfect destination to get away from the big city life and learn to embrace a slower, calmer way of life. We offer dozens of weekend trips and expeditions, from a half day to 3 days, so you can explore Costa Rica on your time off.

All our tours include adequate supervision (usually 1 supervisor per 3 participants), high quality accommodation and a focus on your safety and enjoyment.

San José city trip (1 day)

At the very beginning of your stay in Costa Rica, it is useful to know the capital of San José through a city tour. This will help with orientation and it will give you first impressions of the country, people and culture. In this tour you will know the local City and the surrounding area and visit some important cultural landmarks.

Grecia and Sarchí (1day)

In Grecia, we visit a famous church, then the tour continues to Sarchi. Sarchí is a small town, located about 50 km from San José. It is a beautiful town and a center for arts and crafts in Costa Rica in the mountains. The ox-carts, which are painted by hand, are world famous. We visit the town and surrounding area and have lunch in Sarchí.

Orosi Valley and Basilica de los Ángeles (1 day)

Orosi is a valley surrounded by mountains, with landscapes of great beauty and wonderful sights. The land is very fertile so all kinds of vegetables are cultivated in the area. On the way back we pass the former capital of Cartago, and we can visit the Basilica de los Ángeles («Our Lady of the Angels»). It is a place of pilgrimage for many worshipers in Costa Rica.

Rafting the Pacuare River (1 day)

The Pacuare river is known for its adventurous rapids and magnificent landscape with evergreen vegetation. A great adventure in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Costa Rica. Equipment is provided, a specialized guide will prepare all participants for the adventure and teach them about the behavior in strong rapids. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Irazu Volcano and Basilica de los Angeles (1 day)

The Irazu volcano is the highest volcano in Costa Rica, located over 3000 meters above sea level. The main attraction is its crater, which shows in a clear day an almost toxic green lake with 300 meters in diameter. On the way back we pass the former capital of Cartago, where we can admire the Basilica de los Ángeles («Our Lady of the Angels»). It is a place of pilgrimage for many worshippers in Costa Rica.

Poas Volcano, Waterfall Garden La Paz, Doka Coffee Plantation (1 day)

With first stop by the Poás volcano, an active volcano with a 1.7km wide crater lake of an intense cyan color. We then visit he La Paz waterfalls, a beautiful site deep in the rainforest east of the Poás volcano. Finally, we stop by the Doka Coffee plantation where you can learn how coffee is grown and transformed into the beverage we all love.

Lankester Orchid Garden (1 day)

If you love plants, especially orchids, then the Lancaster Garden is the right place for you. In this garden, where the University of Costa Rica also operates a research center, 800 species of orchids, bromeliads and other plant species can be observed.

Bird Watching (Half day)

We tart at 6:00 am to Coronado, a suburb of San José. We will visit a private reserve and hike through beautiful natural paths where a multitude of bird species can be spotted.

INBio Park (Half day)

The park is located in Heredia, and it offers a great way to discover the biodiversity of Costa Rica and learn a lot about biodiversity, conservation, flora and fauna of the country.

Rain Forest Aerial Tram (Half day)

Northeast of the National Park Braulio Carrillo is a private nature reserve. It is crossed by a 2.6 km long cable car, about 17 meters in height with 16 gondolas and beautiful views. This is an ideal way to explore the rainforest from above.

Zoo Ave (Half day)

This zoo is located in Alajuela. It shows about 70 species of tropical species. Costa Rica is home to many birds, mammals and reptiles in lush vegetation. They can be seen in this zoo, located in Alajuela, which houses about 70 exotic species.

Children's Museum (Half day)

It was once a prison, today it is a beautifully designed children’s museum. It offers many activities and a fun way to teach about nature, life, science, history, culture and modernity. Even adults can spend a nice day and visit exhibitions and participate in cultural and scientific activities.

Pueblo Antiguo (Half day)

Visiting Pueblo Antiguo is like taking a journey to the past in Costa Rica. It feautres former San Jose with its ancient architecture, customs and traditions. You will learn about the origin of the small country and its friendly people and will spend an unforgettable day.

Gold Museum (Half day)

Located in San José, the Museo de Oro contains a large collection of gold crafts made by indigenous people that you can admire, as well as information on the history of gold crafting in the country.

Jade Museum (Half day)

Located in San José, this museum contains a large collection of precolumbian art made of of jade as well as gold, stone and ceramics. Its collection is unique in Latin America.

San Jose city trip #2 (Half day)

Visit the Rohrmoser residential area and other attractions such as the metropolitan Park La Sabana, the seat of the President or the financial district. Also worth a visit is the National Theater and National Museum of Justice, as well as the university district.

Panoramic Restaurant Ram Luna (Half day)

Enjoy the wonderful view of the Central Valley and its surrounding mountains, while you enjoy a delicious buffet with dishes from Costa Rica. Be enchanted by a masquerade and traditional dances, accompanied by the famous music of the marimba. Local craftsmen demonstrate their skills and produce beautiful creations. Colorful fireworks will end this evening and this particular night.

Canopy Tour (Half day)

This is an adventure that should not be missed. First you leave San Jose and head to the mountains and can enjoy great views of vegetation and impressive coffee fields, plantations and picturesque typical towns of Costa Rica. While altitude increases, you will notice the climate and vegetation change. Canopy is a unique experience in the treetops, where one flies by hanging from a rope.

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (2 days/1 night)

Puerto Viejo is a small coastal town in Limón, where one completely forgets the time when you are there. In Cocles and Punta Uva there are incredibly beautiful beaches, which invite you to walk along or relax but they are also great for surfing. In this tour you will experience not only the beaches but also the Caribbean culture. Enjoy the place by bike or car and stop at Manzanillo Wildlife.

Cahuita National Park (2 days/1 night)

This National Park is one of the most attractive destinations in Costa Rica. The second-oldest national park in the country with a relatively small area 5300 hectares lures with lush vegetation, tropical beaches, crystal clear water with coral reefs and mangrove forests. In Cahuita National Park you will find the longest coral reef in Costa Rica full of colorful fish, turtles and many other sea creatures that find shelter. This National Park is a paradise for diving and snorkeling.

Tortuguero National Park (3 days/2 nights)

Do you want to know more about the rain forest and the lush nature of the Caribbean? Do you want to watch birds, watch monkeys and crocodiles you might encounter? Then you should visit Tortuguero. Accessible only by boat, you will enjoy a small tour through the Tortuguero canals and will reach the village of the same name, near nature and home to a nice community. From October to February there are a number of sea turtles in Tortuguero that come to the beach to lay their eggs; that’s why Tortuguero received its name.

Arenal Volcano and hot springs (2 days/1 night)

Arenal Volcano is one of the active volcanoes in Costa Rica and one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It is simply a wonder of nature. On this tour you visit waterfall «La Fortuna», which falls from a height of about 70 meters into a natural catch basin. The descent to the waterfall includes a steep but well paved road through the tropical forest. In the evening you can enjoy the Baldi hot springs in 16 different pools with thermal water at different temperatures (35°C to 65 C). While you enjoy the hot bath, you can enjoy a stunning view of the Arenal volcano and perhaps see how red lava flows down if the night is clear.

Arenal Volcano and Monteverde Cloud Forest (3 days/2 nights)

On this tour you visit the Arenal Volcano, bathe in the hot thermal springs at Baldi and on a clear night, you may watch red lava from the eruptions. Next day the tour starts from the Arenal region towards Monteverde – a wonderful village surrounded by two biological reserves: Santa Elena and Monteverde. This zone is very special with a wonderful contrast to the coasts of Costa Rica. It is also ideal to experience adventures such as a canopy tour through the woods or a trip on suspension bridges.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park (3 days/2 nights)

Rincón de la Vieja National Park offers a breathtaking nature, animals, plants, and hot mud that steams. Our tour begins with a trip to Liberia, the capital of the province of Guanacaste, where we will stay for the night. The next day, we head off to the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. There we will hike about 4 hours of pure nature, and then return to San Jose.

Conchal and Flamingo Brasilito beaches (2 days/1 night)

These beaches are among the most beautiful ones in the province of Guanacaste. We drive to Santa Cruz, Guanacaste in the morning and have breakfast in San Ramon. On the way, we will see La Amistad bridge, the largest bridge in Central America (about 800 meters long). We will reach the beach town Brasilito at noon and from there you can simply go to the beach of Conchal. This is a very special beach because it is not made of sand, but of very small shells. You can spend the whole afternoon enjoying the turquoise blue waters and relaxing on the shell sand. The best view of the sunset is at nearby beach Flamingo.

Samara and Carrillo beaches (2 days/1 night)

The beaches of Samara and Carrillo are located on the Central Pacific coast of the Nicoya Peninsula and offer both lively beach life and good surfing conditions.We head to Nicoya in the morning, where we will cross the famous Bridge of La Amistad, which was funded by the Taiwanese government and is one of the largest ones in Central America. Around noon we reach the small beach town of Samara with its long surfing beach and golden sands, where we spend the day. The next day we look at the much quieter beach of Playa Carrillo with its palm trees, before we go back to San José.

Punta Leona beaches and private reserve (2 days/1 night)

Punta Leona is an oasis of calm. The beach is in a particularly beautiful place and it is surrounded by jungle and turquoise sea. Punta Leona is a private project with tropical forests and several species of birds, reptiles and mammals and three beautiful beaches: Playa Blanca, Playa Mantas and Playa Limoncito.

Carara National Park & Jaco (1 day)

The Carara National Park is located on the pacific coast, which marks the transition from dry to tropical rain forest. The national park is known for its large number and variety of birds, plants, reptiles and mammals, a paradise for nature lovers. We also visit the city of Jacó where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. The beach of Jacó is not exactly the most spectacular beach in Costa Rica, However, it is equipped with first class infrastructure. Restaurants, banks, hotels and casinos can be found. In addition to nightlife, tourists can find many tours and leisure facilities.

Tortuga Island (1 day)

In Costa Rica, day trips to exotic islands in the Gulf of Nicoya are popular. After a trip to the Pacific coast, the tour continues to the port city of Puntarenas to board a luxury yacht where the marine adventure begins. Tortuga Island is known for its white sand beaches and crystal clear water. On the island you can enjoy different activities such as snorkeling, banana boating, swimming, hiking, relaxing in a hammock and sun bathing. Lunch is served directly on the beach.

Esterillos Beach (1 day)

Esterillos Beach is considered one of the most attractive beaches on the Central Pacific. The mile-long sandy beach is ideal for surfing and walking. Be careful when bathing because there are strong currents. Esterillos is located south of Jacó and very isolated, with no major settlements. The beach is divided into three sections, each with their own driveway.

Manuel Antonio (2 days/1 night)

Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest park in Costa Rica, but one of the most famous. An intact nature with plenty of wildlife, a large population of squirrel monkeys, three gorgeous picture-book beaches and a well developed tourist infrastructure in the area make this a must for any one traveling in Costa Rica.

Dominical Beach and Marino Ballena National Park (3 days/2 nights)

Dominical is a small fishing village in the province of Puntarenas on the Southern Pacific coast. Here you can surf or just lie on the beach and relax. About 16 miles away, near Playa Uvita with its moderate waves, is the National Park Marino Ballena, where delicate coral reefs are protected. From December to April humpback whales stop here on their way to the north. On the beaches of this park there are also sea turtles that come to lay their eggs. We will take a four hour tour to watch whales and dolphins.
